The directorate

The directorate produces and submits strategies that are then debated in the councils. These strategies are prepared based on its own proposals and the proposals put together by the Université Grenoble Alpes board. The directorate approves the elements to be submitted to the Board of Directors and any associated working groups.

It is composed of:

  • The president of Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA).
  • A maximum of four directors and managers of component establishments.
  • A maximum of four directors of non-legal entity academic components (CSPM).

In this configuration, it handles the human resources policy, asset strategy, budgets and resources, training issues, student life and communications.

The directorate is expanded to research bodies (the CEA, the CNRS, Inria and Inserm) to tackle regional and international affairs, research, development and partnerships. Other research organizations can be associated at the decision of the Board of Directors.

It is chaired by the president of the university. Decisions are taken by a simple majority of votes cast. In the event of no clear majority, the president of the university will have the casting vote.

The general managers of the departments of the university and its divisions are permanent guests unless otherwise determined by the president of the directorate.

The president may invite to the directorate, for a particular point in the order of the day, any person capable of providing insight, notably the vice-presidents of the university.
