The Design / BuildLab project
This experimental learning program focuses on the development of an ecologically, socially and culturally responsible architecture. It allows architecture students to collaborate with local authorities and construction experts to design and build 1:1 demonstrator projects together.
The participative process through which the projects are carried out aims to encourage the sharing of knowledge and know-how between all the actors of sustainable construction and the general public.
This approach, supported by the Fondation de France and the Caisse des Dépôts & Consignations, has an exceptional dimension as it is in line with the National Strategy for Architecture launched by the Ministry of Culture since 2015 to "transform the act of building tomorrow".
The "Maison pour Tous" project, a joint work carried out in the municipality of Four (Nord Isère) in partnership with the Communauté d'Agglomération des Portes de l'Isère (CAPI), the Grands Ateliers, and numerous regional actors, is one of the fruits of this innovative process. The nature of the process and the quality of the architecture, built with low carbon footprint materials, have been the subject of numerous awards and publications:
