About Vivien Quéma

Vivien Quéma graduated from the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble (now Grenoble INP - UGA) in 2002 with a degree in telecommunications engineering. From 2002 to 2005, he completed a PhD in Computer Science at Grenoble INP - UGA, as part of a joint research team with Inria Grenoble and the Laboratoire Logiciels Systèmes Réseaux (which in 2007 became the Laboratoire d’informatique de Grenoble *), followed by a post-doctorate at the University of Rome I "La Sapienza".

In 2006, Vivien Quéma obtained a position as research fellow at the CNRS, then passed his HDR (habilitation to direct research) in 2010 and obtained a position as university professor at Grenoble INP - Ensimag (École nationale supérieure d'informatique et de mathématiques appliquées) in 2011.

Between 2016 and 2018, he was executive director of the training component of the "Université Grenoble Alpes, université de l'innovation" IDEX site project. In 2019, he was named a junior member of the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF), enabling him to devote more time to his research activities.

In June 2022, he became Director of Grenoble INP - Ensimag, UGA. At the head of the school, he led the project to reorganize the teaching program, with the ambition of training responsible engineers capable of meeting the challenges of digital and environmental transitions. In the same vein, he is responsible for setting up the VerIT project, which he has been managing since 2022. VerIT is the very first French project to win the France 2030 "skills and professions of the future" call for projects in the field of eco-responsible digital engineering.

Making Grenoble INP - UGA a driving force in the transformation towards a regenerative world

For Vivien Quéma: « For several years now, Grenoble INP - UGA has been successfully taking concrete action to help build a sustainable and responsible world. During my time as Director, I intend to take an ambitious step forward: to make Grenoble INP - UGA a driving force in the transformation towards a regenerative world. Indeed, it's no longer just a question of limiting our impact on the environment, but of having a positive impact: helping to restore the planet, reconstitute and regenerate ecosystems, promoting fair human development, based on sharing the value created. To contribute to this regenerative world, we will train tomorrow's engineers and managers by promoting social openness, interdisciplinarity, cross-disciplinary paths between schools, and student involvement. We will encourage research activities by adopting a systemic approach, and support right-tech innovation, i.e. innovation that is sober, sustainable and fair. Finally, Grenoble INP - UGA must be exemplary in its operations. We will ensure quality of working life for staff and students alike, and promote synergies within the institution. »
