The Graduate School @UGA and its Soft Nano program took part in ESONN 2025 in Grenoble. For two weeks, this international training in nanosciences and nanotechnologies combined lectures, hands-on sessions, and fruitful exchanges between students and researchers from around the world.

An international gathering for nanosciences and nanotechnologies

The Graduate School @UGA has just successfully concluded the participation of its Soft Nano program in the 22nd edition of the European School On Nanosciences & Nanotechnologies (ESONN 2025). Held in Grenoble from August 24 to September 6, the event brought together around one hundred students, young researchers, and international experts to explore the latest advances in nanosciences and nanotechnologies.

Two weeks of scientific immersion in Grenoble

Throughout the event, participants followed an intensive schedule blending lectures, specialized seminars, and practical sessions within Grenoble’s cutting-edge facilities, including the CIME cleanrooms and several laboratories on site. ESONN is renowned for its interdisciplinary approach, with one track dedicated to quantum science and technology and another focused on nanosciences applied to life sciences. For Soft Nano students, this immersion offered a unique opportunity to deepen their knowledge while discovering bridges between quantum physics, biology, and nanotechnologies.

Scientific highlights and community spirit

Beyond the training sessions, several highlights marked this edition. The “Me, my project, my dream” session, where each student presented their scientific ambitions, encouraged exchange and mutual inspiration. It was also a key moment for Soft Nano students, who presented their posters before a jury. A cultural excursion and a closing dinner further strengthened the convivial atmosphere and created bonds that extended beyond the academic setting.

Soft Nano: a program with an international outlook

For the Graduate School @UGA, and particularly for the Soft Nano program, participation in ESONN represents a major milestone. It complements theoretical courses and research internships, while reinforcing the international dimension of the curriculum. Thanks to ESONN 2025, students not only acquired new scientific skills but also built a professional and human network that will support them as they embark on their careers.
