Call for applications - IdEx Master scholarships - 2026-2027 academic year

The Initiative of Excellence (IdEx) Université Grenoble Alpes is publishing the 2026-2027 Master Scholarship program.
Applications to this programme are open to international students who apply for one of the Masters or Engineer degrees offered in one of the academic divisions of Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA), namely ENSAG - UGA, Grenoble INP - UGA, Sciences po Grenoble - UGA or Université Grenoble Alpes.

Eligible international students can be foreign students:
  • who are currently enrolled in a university outside France or
  • who have obtained their last degree in a foreign university.
  • who have obtained their "Baccalauréat" or equivalent in a foreign university even if they have studied afterwards in France.
The UGA’s academic divisions are as follows: 
  • École nationale supérieure d’architecture de Grenoble (ENSAG - UGA),
  • Institut polytechnique de Grenoble (Grenoble INP - UGA),
  • Sciences Po Grenoble - UGA – School of Political Studies (IEP),
  • Faculté des Sciences - Faculty of Sciences (FdS),
  • Faculté Humanités, Santé, Sport, Sociétés – Faculty of Humanities, Health, Sports and Societies (H3S),
  • Faculté d’économie de Grenoble - Economics Department,
  • Faculté de droit de Grenoble - Grenoble Law School,
  • Institut d'Urbanisme et de Géographie Alpine - Alpine Geography and Urban Planning Institute (IUGA).
Applicants can either apply:
  • For the first or the second year of a Master degree (M1 / M2) or
  • For the second or third year of an Engineer degree (Ingé 2A / 3A).
Candidates will be selected on the basis of their academic records, by the academic faculty in charge of the degrees they apply for.

Amount of the scholarship and duration:

The scholarship amounts to:
  • 9,000 euro for a M1 or Ingé 2A academic year (i.e. 2 study semesters)
  • 5,500 euro for a M2 or Ingé 3A academic year.
The scholarship is attributed for a one-year duration. Laureates will have to apply again for the second year of their program.

Tuition fees:
Being a scholarship holder does not automatically waive tuition fees.
Amounts, payment processes and exemption cases depend on each institution (ENSAG / IEP / INP / UGA).

Application process

The application process is as follows:
  • Apply for one of the Masters or Engineer degrees offered. The application must be for the 2026-2027 academic year. Application calendars vary (see presentation of each degree for more information).
  • Please note that not all degrees give access to an IdEx scholarship.
  • In most cases, applicants can apply both for the scholarship and for the degree, while applying to entering a degree ;
  • The faculty select IdEx scholarship holders. Calendars vary and there can be a waiting list ;
  • In all cases, the selection results are sent shortly after the admission committee has sat. Information on being granted an IdEx master scholarship can happen to be sent after the selection to the degree has been communicated.

Scholarship payment process and calendar

Mid-October 2026, once the Master's supervisor has confirmed the student’s registration and attendance, half the scholarship is paid.
Students must therefore pay due fees before they receive the first instalment if they have no been exempted from paying fees.

In February 2027, once the Master's supervisor has confirmed the student’s attendance over the 1st semester and their participation to the exams, the other half of the scholarship is paid.
