Michel Sève, Honorary Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; Ahcène Boumendjel, Academic Director of the Erasmus Mundus BeInPM Master's programme; Walid Rachidi, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; Yassine Lakhnech, President of Université Grenoble Alpes; Pierre-Nicolas Timsit, Head of International Relations Office, Health Division.
One degree, recognised in France, Spain and Italy. By finalising, in June 2026, the signing of the degrees for the 2024–2025 cohort of the Erasmus Mundus Be In Precision Medicine (BeInPM) Master's programme, Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) has brought to fruition a model of academic cooperation that remains rare in Europe. Delivered jointly with the University of Barcelona and the University of Naples Federico II, this joint degree reflects the high level of integration achieved by the three institutions in delivering a programme of excellence in precision medicine.
A single degree recognised in three countries
The degree awarded to BeInPM graduates is much more than an international qualification.
It brings together, on a single degree certificate, three national master's degrees (French, Spanish and Italian) jointly awarded by Université Grenoble Alpes, the University of Barcelona and the University of Naples Federico II.
Unlike double or multiple degree programmes, which generally result in several separate diplomas, this joint degree certifies a single academic programme recognised simultaneously by the three partner universities and their respective national higher education authorities.
Developing this degree required several years of work to align regulatory frameworks, academic standards and degree-awarding procedures across the three national higher education systems. This level of integration remains exceptional in Europe and places UGA among the pioneering institutions helping to shape a truly European higher education landscape.
The signing of the final degree certificate by Yassine Lakhnech, President of Université Grenoble Alpes, marks the successful completion of this exemplary academic partnership.
A programme of excellence in precision medicine
Coordinated by Université Grenoble Alpes, the Be In Precision Medicine (BeInPM) Erasmus Mundus Master's programme is funded by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA).
Entirely taught in English, the programme is jointly delivered by Université Grenoble Alpes, the University of Barcelona and the University of Naples Federico II. It prepares the next generation of specialists in precision medicine, a rapidly evolving field that combines advances in genomics, biology, pharmacology and data science to develop increasingly personalised diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
An international programme attracting talent from around the world
Since its launch, the BeInPM Master's programme has established itself as a benchmark for international excellence.
Over four cohorts, it has welcomed 88 students representing 45 nationalities. Each year, only 22 students are selected from up to 700 applications submitted by candidates from around the world, demonstrating both the programme's attractiveness and its high academic standards.
Beyond the success of this graduating class, the awarding of this joint degree represents a significant milestone for integrated European education. It reflects Université Grenoble Alpes' ambition to build, together with its partners, a more open, more coherent and more ambitious European higher education system.
