After the Paris Summer Games in 2024, the Olympic adventure continues in 2026 for the students and young graduates who are high-level athletes at the Université Grenoble Alpes. This winter, 49 of these champions will be on the slopes of the Milan-Cortina Olympic Games. Five countries represented, 12 sports disciplines, a quarter of the French Olympic team. Discover the UGA Olympic and Paralympic delegation!
In 2024, 12 students and recent graduates from UGA participated in the
Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris, winning four medals and six Top 10 finishes. However, as the capital of the Alps, UGA's Olympic and Paralympic history is primarily written during the Winter Games...
A quarter of the French Olympic delegation and two flag bearers
From Beijing to Milan-Cortina. Nine medals, five countries represented, a quarter of the French team, a third of the French medals! In 2002, 33 students and recent graduates from the Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) took part in the
Beijing Winter Olympics. Four years after these achievements, the UGA ‘delegation’ to the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics https://www.olympics.com/fr/milano-cortina-2026 will consist of 49 athletes: 39 students and 10 graduates! Forty-five of them have been selected for the Olympic Games (6 to 22 February 2026) and four for the Paralympic Games (6 to 15 March 2026).
In this new sporting adventure, UGA champions will compete in 12 disciplines and represent five countries: France with 41 athletes, Belgium (4), Portugal (2), Great Britain (1), and Andorra (1). With 37 athletes selected for the
French Olympic team, UGA students and graduates represent a quarter of the French Olympic delegation (161 athletes) and a third of the delegation in individual events (excluding ice hockey)!
Athletes at the top of their game right from the opening ceremony! Two of the UGA students and graduates selected for these Winter Games were chosen to be among the four flag bearers for the French delegation: Chloé Trespeuch (snowboarding) for the Olympic Games and Jordan Broisin (para alpine skiing) for the Paralympic Games.
Inter’Val: a programme for elite winter sports athletes
To balance their studies and sport at the highest international level, all UGA students attending the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics benefit from the
Inter'Val programme. Set up in 2004 to respond to the significant constraints faced by winter sports specialists, this specific support programme is reserved for athletes competing in major international competitions.
Offered in all fields of study, Inter'Val is based on a partnership unique in France between the UGA, the National Sports Agency (ANS) and five federations: the French Ski Federation (FFS), the French Mountain and Climbing Federation (FFME), the French Ice Sports Federation (FFSG), the French Ice Hockey Federation (FFHG) and the French Handisport Federation (FFH).
This year, out of the 770 high-level student athletes supported in their dual projects by UGA, 115 are benefiting from the Inter'Val support programme. The success of this benchmark support programme is also reflected in the nine UGA graduates who are pursuing their sporting careers at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics while having secured their professional future.
