Encounters between science and nature: A film festival on science mountain adventures finds its way to the general public.
First started in Grenoble, Rencontres Montagnes et Sciences (or Intersections between Mountains and Science) can now be seen in several cities in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Taking place within the weeklong Ciné Montagne film festival, Les Rencontres Montagnes et Sciences is for those who wish to see the mountains in a different light: adventures from the Alps to the Patagonia, from glaciers to volcanoes and ski slopes to caves… but the challenge here is a scientific one.
A big part of this film festival is a meeting place for scientists, directors and the public. The 5,000 spectators select each year two winners for the Youth Prize and the Scientific Adventure Film Prize.
It is also the meeting place for professionals, to develop the production process of a scientific adventure documentary and to bring together scientists, filmmaker, journalists and producers for a pitch session.
