With 56,000 students and 2,900 PhDs, Université Grenoble Alpes is a major multidisciplinary university. In the field of Education, the UGA Idex project has the following ambition:
  • Strengthen the attractiveness of the university by improving its visibility and that of its diplomas
  • Support innovative teaching and learning practices
  • Improve the interface with cultural and socio-economic partners to ensure that the educational offering meets the needs of the labour market, in particular through interdisciplinary study programs.

Focus

  • 759 master's scholarships
  • 114 pedagogical innovation projects funded for a total budget of €8.9 million
  • 30% of the university staff involved
  • About one-third of the initiatives are in disciplines related to the humanities and social sciences
  • 80 summer schools
The #FormIDEX meetings, three days on the pedagogical transformation in the presence of international experts, took place in November 2019.

Supporting and accelerating new teaching & learning approaches

IDEX Université Grenoble Alpes launched a program aimed at initiating innovative and transformative teaching & learning approaches, as well as developing "learning-by-doing" platforms and devices.

Testing new education modules built in multi-disciplinarity, in connection with research or internationalization

This initiative, called "CIBLE UE", began in April 2019 within the structure of IDEX University Grenoble Alpes. Its aim is to test new teaching modules that meet at least one of the following criteria: multidisciplinarity; or links with research, in particular courses given in the framework of the Cross Disciplinary Program projects. A total of 26 projects were initiated with a collective budget of 0.9 million euros. Humanities and social sciences communities has shown strong interest in the call, with 46% of the projects coming from these fields.

Encouraging student entrepreneurship

Support for entrepreneurship training is also an important focus of IDEX Université Grenoble Alpes, which has initiated actions to promote and foster the entrepreneurial spirit. The UGA IDEX project has made it possible to initiate mentoring and coaching actions for students with a business creation project. Dedicated training courses have also been set up for student entrepreneurs to enable them to acquire skills that are complementary to their initial training.

Fostering attractiveness to international students

IDEX Université Grenoble Alpes has made it possible to initiate an ambitious program to fund scholarships for international students applying to one of UGA's Master's programs of.
This program has made it possible to fund more than 600 Master's scholarships based on criteria of academic excellence, with the possibility of subsequently directing these students towards PhD programs at Université Grenoble Alpes.

Summer schools

Between 2017 and 2019, 76 summer schools have been organized with the support of IDEX Université Grenoble Alpes to promote the university’s areas of excellence in research and education. The term "summer school" should be taken in a broad sense, as events can take place at any time of the year.
