Elite sport
On January 25, 2022
After the Summer Olympics in Tokyo in 2021, the adventure continues in 2022 for the students and graduates of high-level sports at Université Grenoble Alpes. This winter, 33 of these champions will be on the slopes of the Beijing Olympics, representing five countries in total and a quarter of the French delegation. Meet UGA's Olympic and Paralympic competitors!
Last summer, 11 high-level sports (SHN) students and graduates from UGA participated in the Tokyo Olympics, winning 4 Olympic and Paralympic medals. However, as the capital of the Alps, UGA's Olympic history is written above all during the Winter Games...
Fourteen in 2014, 18 in 2018 and 33 in… 2022! This year, 33 UGA students and graduates will take part in the Beijing Olympics. From 4-20 February 2022, 28 of them will compete in 10 disciplines and represent five countries: France with 22 athletes (a quarter of the French delegation), Belgium (3), Andorra, Italy and Portugal. The adventure will continue for 5 more UGA students and graduates, who will be part of the total of 17 French athletes taking part in the Paralympics from 4-13 March.
In order to accomodate studies and sports at the highest international level, these 33 champions have or currently benefit from the Inter'Val program.
This year, out of the 600 SHN students at UGA, Inter'Val supports 97 SHN students, 20 of whom will be at the Beijing Olympics and Paralympics. The success of the program is also the success of the 13 UGA graduates who are pursuing their sports careers at the Beijing Olympics while having secured their professional future.

Inter'Val: a unique system and partnership in France
The Inter'Val support system was set up in 2004 to address the very significant constraints faced by winter sports specialists. Available for all study programs and reserved for athletes taking part in the biggest international competitions, this specific support system is based on a unique partnership in France between UGA, the French National Sports Agency (ANS) and 4 federations: the French Ski Federation (FFS), the French Ice Sports Federation (FFSG), the French Ice Hockey Federation (FFHG) and the French Federation for the Disabled (FFH).This year, out of the 600 SHN students at UGA, Inter'Val supports 97 SHN students, 20 of whom will be at the Beijing Olympics and Paralympics. The success of the program is also the success of the 13 UGA graduates who are pursuing their sports careers at the Beijing Olympics while having secured their professional future.
