Matéo Jeannesson, a high-level athlete in the Science and Technology degree department, ended his season on a high note at the 2024 World Junior Freestyle Skiing Championships in Italy. He won gold in individual moguls and bronze in parallel moguls.
A 6th place on 2 December 2023 in Ruka, Finland, followed by a 9th place less than two weeks later in Alpe d'Huez. Matéo Jeannesson is off to a flying start to the 2023-2024 moguls season. Competing for Great Britain, the young Franco-British skier recorded two top 10 finishes, his best performances in the senior mogul ski world cup.
A few months later, after eight stops on the World Cup circuit, the young student studying for a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics and Applications was in Italy on 5 and 6 April 2024 to take part in the 14th Junior World Freestyle Skiing Championships.
A world champion title and a bronze medal
On the slopes of Chiesa in Valmalenco, Matéo Jeannesson confirmed his good start to the season with two medals, including a title. In the individual moguls event, he won gold and became the world junior champion in the discipline. At just 20 years of age, he also won a superb bronze medal in the parallel moguls event. A bronze medal he had already won at the previous Junior World Championships.
Thanks to his good results in the 2023-2024 season, Matéo Jeannesson finished 26th in the overall ranking for the 2024 World Cup. Eleven places better than last year!

Matéo Jeannesson is taking advantage of the Inter'Val programme to combine study and sport at the highest international level. Available for all degree programmes, this special support programme was set up in 2004 in response to the severe constraints faced by winter sports specialists.
Reserved for athletes taking part in the biggest competitions, Inter'Val is based on a unique partnership in France between the UGA, the Agence nationale du sport (ANS) and 4 federations: the Fédération française de ski (FFS), the Fédération française des sports de glace (FFSG), the Fédération française de hockey sur glace (FFHG) and the Fédération française handisport (FFH).
