Fifteen new master's programs in engineering to meet the challenges of tomorrow

Driven by the excellence of its research and the richness of its scientific, industrial, and institutional ecosystem, UGA is launching more than fifteen new “Master’s in Engineering” programs in sectors that are strategic for the future.

Artificial intelligence applied to healthcare, sports, or data; bioengineering and life sciences engineering; microelectronics; electrical engineering for the energy transition; cybersecurity; civil and nuclear engineering; and a dual degree program in law and engineering focused on AI and cybersecurity : These new programs are designed to train the engineers and technicians that France and Europe need to support economic, digital, environmental, and health transitions.

A Strategic Partnership with the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region

This ambitious project is coming to life thanks to the support of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, as part of the “Regional Plan for Engineers and Technicians,” with which the UGA has signed a strategic partnership agreement.

Catherine Staron, Vice President for High Schools, Higher Education, Research, and Innovation, emphasizes: “To keep pace with the changes in our strategic industries, we must train more qualified professionals who are eager to work for companies that are innovating in these key sectors. Through the ‘Region of Engineers and Technicians’ plan, we have worked with our partners to develop a comprehensive and attractive training program. We want to attract and retain talent so that we can remain France’s leading industrial region and an economic powerhouse for our country. UGA is one of the most innovative universities in France. It is therefore only natural that it offers one of the most ambitious programs to contribute to our regional goal of increasing the number of engineering and technical graduates by 25% each year. We are proud to sign this partnership, which aligns with our vision of industrial sovereignty and the economic development of our region.”

A 25% increase in the number of engineering graduates by 2031

The primary objectives of this agreement are to:

• increase the appeal of science and technology programs;
• increase capacity in high-demand sectors;
• promote learning and continuing education;
• promote social inclusion and encourage students to pursue science-related fields;
• strengthen ties between the university and the socio-economic sector.

By 2031, the UGA will thus contribute to the regional goal of increasing the number of engineering and technical graduates, with a targeted increase of +25.8%, or nearly 700 more graduates per year.




The signing of this agreement also provided an opportunity for training officials, institutional partners, and stakeholders from the business community to exchange views, share insights on changes in the workforce, and highlight the benefits of this collaboration in serving the region’s economic interests.

The UGA and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region share the same conviction: The region’s industrial, technological, and scientific future is being shaped today through education, innovation, and the ability to attract and train talent.
