Semiconductors: What Are the Challenges for France-Taiwan Cooperation?

Yassine Lakhnech, President of theUniversité Grenoble Alpes, and Hugo Kuo, President of the Association Alliance Franco-Taïwanaise AURA, are pleased to invite you to the conference “Semiconductors: What Are the Challenges for France-Taiwan Cooperation?” on October 20, 2026, in the Grenoble INP–UGA auditorium on the Grenoble Science Peninsula.
Against a backdrop of profound technological and geopolitical changes, this meeting will shed light on the strategic importance of semiconductors and on cooperation between France and Taiwan in the fields of research, education, innovation, and industry.

Organized in the presence of Consul General SHEN Cheng-Hong of the Taipei Representative Office in France (Aix-en-Provence office), this event will begin with a screening of the documentary film A Chip Odyssey Directed in 2025 by Hsiao Chu-Chen (documentary in Mandarin with French subtitles, running time 1 hour 45 minutes).

It will be followed by a roundtable discussion bringing together researchers, institutional representatives, and business leaders to share their perspectives on the challenges of Franco-Taiwanese collaboration and highlight partnerships that contribute to the development of tomorrow’s technologies.

Program 

  • 5:15–5:30 p.m.: Welcome for participants
  • 5:30–5:50 p.m.: Introduction and official remarks
  • 5:50 p.m.–7:35 p.m.: Screening of the documentary *A Chip Odyssey* (running time: 1 hour 45 minutes)
  • 7:35 p.m.–8:05 p.m.: panel discussion
  • Starting at 8:05 p.m.: buffet dinner
