Avenue Centrale: "Commitments, Uprisings: Writing an Emancipatory History"

Conference Research
9, February 2027Saint-Martin-d'Hères - University Campus
Lecture by Ludivine Bantigny as part of the "Avenue Centrale: Humanities Series" (Season 13).

From popular uprisings to revolutions, from strikes to barricades, from feminist struggles to insurrections that shake the established order, the history of activism and uprisings is driven by a single desire: to loosen the grip of domination and open up new possibilities.

This lecture will trace the footsteps of those who rejected injustice, defied authority, and invented new ways of living, fighting, and building society. It will give voice to those long silenced, particularly women, who have played essential roles in major emancipatory struggles. These uprisings are not relics of the past: their boldness resonates with our present. To revisit these pivotal moments is to rediscover the power of an idea that brings hope: nothing in history is inevitable.
