Lecture titled "Design and... Wool as a Material" by Julian Turgy of Toison Studio
The “Design and…” series of events aims to showcase the work of designers who are helping to shape the world as it faces the challenges of social and ecological transitions.
Founded by Julian Turgy, Toison Studio explores new ways of designing and producing textile materials from wool. The studio is particularly interested in promoting French wool, much of which is currently underutilized. At the intersection of design and research into materials and manufacturing processes, it develops its own digital manufacturing machines and explores new possibilities for textile creation.
During this lecture, Julian Turgy will present Toison Studio’s approach and its research on digital needle-punching. He will discuss the possibilities this approach opens up at various scales, from material design to object creation and the development of production tools.
