Video Surveillance at the Gières and Saint-Martin-d'Hères University Campus

Purpose of the Processing (Purpose and Legal Basis)

The University of Grenoble Alpes, located at 621 Avenue Centrale, 38400 Saint-Martin-d’Hères, in its capacity as the data controller, has installed a video surveillance system on the university campus to ensure the safety of its staff, students, visitors, and property.

The legal basis for the processing is legitimate interest (see Article 6.1.f of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)).

Data and Categories of Data Subjects

Employees, students, and occasional visitors to the university campus may be recorded by the camera.

Recipients

In the event of an incident, the footage may be viewed by authorized University personnel (security staff and the Office of Property, Planning, and Energy Transition) and by law enforcement. University staff responsible for equipment maintenance may also access the footage, solely for this purpose.

Shelf Life

Images are retained for 15 days and then deleted from our databases.

However, in the event of an incident involving the safety of persons or property, video surveillance footage may be retrieved from the system. It is then stored on a separate medium for the duration of the proceedings related to that incident and is accessible only to authorized personnel in that context.

Human Rights

You can access your personal data or request that it be deleted. You also have the right to object to the processing of your data and the right to restrict such processing (see the website cnil.fr (For more information about your rights.)

To exercise these rights or if you have any questions about the processing of your data in this system, you may contact our Data Protection Officer (DPO).
