International network

Université Grenoble Alpes enjoys a wide network of international partners on all continents, with more than 650 academic partnerships in 150 countries.

Global partnerships

We want to establish specific targeted partnerships to allow relations to go beyond the scale of the individual staff or laboratory. Such strategic partnerships can rely on existing collaborations, which they will foster and strengthen. We will specifically look for establishing partnerships with universities developing top-class research in areas corresponding to our focuses 1 and 2. Our aim is an ambitious yet feasible two new strategic partnerships over the next four years, and 4 new partnerships over the next 10 years.

European partnerships

European strategic partnerships focus on European funding: they will prepare teams on both sides to respond to European calls, foster information exchange and support joint lobbying actions. Université Grenoble Alpes has already established such a partnership with Swansea University. We are in the process of setting-up similar partnerships with the Universities of Barcelona and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. In both cases, the institutions share with UGA a strategic priority on innovation, and extensive collaborations already take place at the level of individual researchers or research laboratories (KIC HealthKic Raw materials, Cluster network, etc.).

Thematic partnerships for humanities and social sciences

Thematic strategic partnerships will specifically support the development of focus 1 of Université Grenoble Alpes, namely the internationalization of humanities and social sciences. We will build up on existing partnerships with a series of universities fitting our own priority axes.

Partnerships in French-speaking Africa

Privileged partnerships with French-speaking Africa will be developed: The aim is to attract students from the region, where language gives Université Grenoble Alpes a competitive advantage, and build on active partnerships with African universities (eg, network RESCIF).

The Alpine triangle

We will develop cooperations on the Alpine triangle to structure partnerships on the axis Lyon, Grenoble, Lausanne, Genève, in particular through access to research facilities.
