The world's largest international education conference is underway in Denver, and the UGA is there
The world’s biggest international education event - the annual NAFSA conference - takes place this year from May 29th to June 3rd in Denver, Colorado, in the USA.
NAFSA, the Association of International Educators, is the world's largest nonprofit association dedicated to international education and exchange; the conference is the world’s largest gathering dedicated to international education. The 2015 NAFSA conference attracted 11,000 attendees, including representatives from all three Grenoble universities, who worked together to organize meetings with current and prospective partners, and provide information about the UGA merger.

The UGA at NAFSA

International Affairs leadership will attend NAFSA this year in order to meet with current partners, investigate possible new collaborations and projects, and to keep abreast of the latest developments in international education.

This year is also the first year that the UGA will be present at NAFSA, and International Affair will host an event to introduce the new university to the international education community. The reception, which will be held the evening of May 31st, in Denver, will host representatives from our strategic partner universities, as well as selected possible new partners. The event will also feature local wines and cheeses, bringing a taste of Grenoble to Denver and the world.

What is NAFSA?

Based in the United States, NAFSA was founded in 1948 as the National Organization of Foreign Student Advisors as a professional network for advisors of international students in US universities after the Second World War. In 1976, funding changes allowed NAFSA to focus on both international students and study abroad. Today, the association has over 10,000 members from 3,500 institutions worldwide.

In addition to providing resources to international educators, NAFSA also works to advance specific policy issues within the U.S. and internationally. They work for more open and fair American immigration policies in the hopes of attracting talent to the country’s colleges and universities. They also work to expand study abroad opportunities for Americans, encouraging the development of intercultural skills and international experiences.
