A space dedicated to student services will open its doors in the heart of the Saint-Martin-d'Hères campus at the beginning of the 2023 academic year. Located in the completely renovated Ampère Hall D, it will house a large number of services for UGA and other students of Crous Grenoble Alpes.

Simplifying student access to services and information

  • Launched exactly 10 years ago, this project was born of the desire to bring together student services in one place and to simplify access to them.
  • This new location is emblematic of the historic and exemplary collaboration between the university and Crous Grenoble Alpes. It will be located in the heart of the Saint-Martin-d'Hères-Gières campus with the objective to:
  • Facilitate access, improve the accessibility and quality of the services offered to students
  • Consolidate, transform and improve the reception and information facilities
  • Develop synergies between university actors and encourage joint projects
  • Animate and strengthen the heart of the campus as a living district within the metropolis

Creating a living space rich in opportunities, combining services and activities

In a completely redesigned and refurbished Ampère D building, numerous services will be housed on the two floors of the building, with spaces organized according to the users' needs.

Université Grenoble Alpes services:

  • University health center
  • Handicap Reception Service
  • iCampus Support Service
  • ISSO International Welcome Service and Prefecture Office
  • Student Initiatives Service
  • University Physical Activity and Sports Service (SUAPS)
  • Culture Department
  • Pépite Ozer" student entrepreneurship center
  • Fab-Lab MSTIC (platform for working and exchanging on innovative technological projects)

The administrative headquarters of Crous Grenoble Alpes and its student life services:

  • Social services
  • Scholarship service
  • Housing department
  • Culture, sports, entertainment and campus life department
This merger of services will make it possible to offer a shared first-level reception and information service for both French and international students. It will also house the unified social services office, a historic achievement of the collaboration between Université Grenoble Alpes and the Grenoble Alpes Regional Council, to create a center dedicated to student support and well-being, thanks to the direct proximity of the Health Center, the Disability Office, and the SUAPS.

This unique location and synergy will also be an opportunity to set up interfaced tools and information systems for better user follow-up.

Finally, students will find spaces to support their associative and entrepreneurial initiatives, making it a real incubator for student life.

It should be noted that UGA occupational medicine will also be housed in the building.

A project with a strong heritage dimension

Work to rehabilitate the Ampère building began in 2019 and should be completed next spring for an opening to the public at the start of the 2023 school year.

As the aim is to make the building a central and emblematic part of the campus, but also one that is adapted to student use, the architecture has been particularly studied. The choice was made to preserve the building's original industrial character while completely redesigning the interior in the form of functional "boxes", with a concrete first floor and a second floor made of wood frames, contributing to the building's energy performance and living comfort. The future student services center will also a building with strong environmental ambitions that reflect the eco-responsible commitment of the university and Crous Grenoble Alpes, both in its construction and in its use. In addition to its optimized energy performance, with an overall thermal efficiency higher than the required standards (RT 2012), it is built in part with local and bio-based materials.
