Understanding Gender-Based and Sexual Violence, Discrimination, and Harassment

As part of its commitment to preventing all forms of violence, UGA is organizing an awareness-raising session on gender-based and sexual violence (GBV), discrimination, and harassment for doctoral students, faculty members, and UGA staff:

In English:

  • Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. - Lecture Hall G at the CLV
This 2-hour awareness session will provide you with the tools to understand gender-based violence, discrimination, and harassment in higher education and research. It will also teach you how to legally classify these forms of violence and how to respond if you are a victim or witness. The session will be supplemented by a presentation on the UGA’s reporting system for acts of gender-based violence, discrimination, and harassment.

Knowing how to respond to gender-based and sexual violence, discrimination, and harassment while working on a dissertation

This awareness session will be followed by a workshop to delve deeper into combating sexual and gender-based violence, discrimination, and harassment in the context of doctoral research. Open exclusively to doctoral students, this 2-hour workshop will use role-playing exercises to help participants develop the right reflexes to prevent and respond to violence within the context of doctoral supervision. Two workshops, each with a maximum of 20 participants, will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

In English:

  • Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. — Rooms 104 and 111 in the Simone Veil Building. Please note: Limited to 30 participants.
