Grenoble at the Center of the Discussion on Risk

From August 26 to 28, 2025, theUniversité Grenoble Alpes hosted the 4th edition of the RISK Summer School, titled From Data to Decision-Making Under Conditions of Uncertainty. The event, which was free and open to the public, was held at the GreEN-ER building on the Grenoble Peninsula and drew a diverse audience of researchers, students, and partners.

An Interdisciplinary Immersion Experience

Co-organized by the Graduate School@UGA, the Risk Institute@UGA, Swansea University, and the British Council, the RISK Summer School offered a rich program: multidisciplinary scientific seminars, roundtable discussions with international speakers, and creative role-playing workshops. Participants explored different ways of thinking and acting in the face of uncertainty, through an approach that combined scientific rigor with practical scenarios. It was also an opportunity for students in the RISK thematic program to present their work to an audience of international experts.

A Workshop for Early-Career Researchers

On August 29, an advanced workshop extended the Summer School. Jointly organized by Swansea University and the Risk Institute, it enabled doctoral and postdoctoral students to delve deeper into the challenges of decision-making in complex contexts. The workshop fostered the development of specific skills and strengthened international networks among young researchers and alumni of the RISK thematic program.

A Scientific and Human Success

The RISK Summer School 2025 has established itself as a highlight of the start of the academic year, underscoring the importance of interdisciplinary dialogue for better understanding and managing uncertainty.
