The Saint-Martin-d'Hères campus is our main campus. This is where the heart of our community beats, as this campus is home to the largest number of our students. Ideally located on the outskirts of Grenoble, you can reach the city center in just 15 minutes by tram or bike. Enjoy an exceptional setting, surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery.
One of the most beautiful campuses in France
The main campus, located in the municipalities of Gières and Saint-Martin-d’Hères and commonly known as the “University Campus,” was built in the early 1960s. Today, it is recognized as one of the most beautiful campuses in France, with its 30,000 trees, numerous sports and cultural facilities, unique architecture, and 70 works of art scattered throughout the grounds. Spanning more than 180 hectares, the university campus is a wonderful place to study, work, and take a stroll. It consistently ranks highly in lists of the best college towns.
A gem of biodiversity
The Saint-Martin-d'Hères campus is a true urban park spanning 175 hectares. Bordered by the Isère River and surrounded by the Belledonne, Chartreuse, and Vercors mountain ranges, it offers an exceptional view every day. It is a unique haven of biodiversity, with its wooded areas and preserved spaces where nature flourishes right in the heart of the city. An inspiring setting for studying, recharging, or simply taking a break between classes.
An accessible campus
The Saint-Martin-d'Hères campus is exceptionally well served by public transportation. Four tram stops run through the campus, connecting you directly—in just a few minutes—to downtown Grenoble and the SNCF train station. Bike paths and bus routes round out this network.
