After the 2024 Summer Games in Paris, the Olympic adventure continues in 2026 for high-level student-athletes and recent graduates from theUniversité Grenoble Alpes. This winter, 51 of these champions will be on the slopes at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics. Six countries represented, 12 sports, and a quarter of the French Olympic team. Discover the UGA’s Olympic and Paralympic delegation!
In 2024, 12 UGA students and recent graduates participated in the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris with four medals and six Top 10 finishes to show for it. However, as befits the capital of the Alps, the UGA’s Olympic and Paralympic history is written primarily during the Winter Games…

A quarter of the French Olympic delegation and two flag-bearers

From Beijing to Milan-Cortina. Nine medals, five countries represented, a quarter of the French team, and a third of France’s medals! In 2022, 33 UGA students and recent graduates participated in the Beijing Olympics. Four years after these achievements, the UGA “delegation” to the Milan-Cortina Winter Games  will consist of 51 athletes: 40 students and 11 graduates! Forty-seven of them have been selected for the Olympic Games (February 6–22, 2026), and four for the Paralympic Games (March 6–15, 2026).

In this new sporting adventure, UGA’s male and female champions will compete in 12 disciplines and represent six countries: France (42 athletes), Belgium (4), Portugal (2), Great Britain (1), Andorra (1), and Chile (1). With 38 athletes selected for French Olympic team, UGA students and alumni make up a quarter of the French Olympic delegation (161 athletes) and a third of the delegation competing in individual events (excluding ice hockey)!

Athletes in the spotlight right from the opening ceremony! Two of UGA’s students and alumni selected for these Winter Games were chosen to be among the four flag bearers for the French delegation: Chloé Trespeuch (snowboarding) for the Olympic Games and Jordan Broisin (para-alpine skiing) for the Paralympic Games.

Inter’Val: A Program for the Elite of Winter Sports

To balance their studies with competing at the highest international level, all UGA students participating in the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics benefit from the Inter’Val system. Established in 2004 to address the significant challenges faced by winter sports athletes, this specialized support program is reserved for athletes competing in the most prestigious international competitions.

Offered in all fields of study, Inter’Val is based on a partnership—unique in France—between the UGA and the National Sports Agency (ANS) and 5 federations: the French Ski Federation (FFS), the French Mountaineering and Climbing Federation (FFME), the French Ice Sports Federation (FFSG), the French Ice Hockey Federation (FFHG) and the French Federation of Sports for People with Disabilities (FFH).

This year, of the 770 high-level student-athletes supported by the UGA in their dual academic and athletic pursuits, 115 are benefiting from the Inter’Val support program. The success of this leading support program is also reflected in the 11 UGA graduates who are continuing their athletic careers at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics while having secured their professional futures.
