2026 Alpes Open: An international swimming meet right in the heart of the campus!

The Open des Alpes will take place at the university pool at theUniversité Grenoble Alpes from October 9 to 11, 2026. Three days of competition and entertainment, featuring several Olympic and world medalists as “guest stars.” Come out in large numbers to cheer on the elite of French and international swimming!
The Open des Alpes returns this fall with a 7e This year’s event will bring together a host of international swimmers from France and abroad. The competition is once again shaping up to be a highlight of the swimming season, taking place just before the French Elite Short-Course Championships (qualifiers for the European Championships), and it helps promote the sporting reputation of the Grenoble region and the campus of theUniversité Grenoble Alpes.

Organized by the Grenoble Alp’38 In collaboration with its partners, this international swimming meet will take place from October 9 to 11, 2026, at the UGA university pool on the Saint-Martin-d’Hères–Gières university campus (directions). The 2026 edition of the Alpes Open swimming competition once again features a stellar field of competitors, including many internationally renowned athletes.

Several renowned swimmers have already confirmed their participation in this high-level competition:
Ahmed Hafnaoui, Olympic champion in the 400-meter freestyle at the 2020 Tokyo Games
Clément Secchi, Olympic medalist at Paris 2024 with the French 4 × 100-meter medley relay team
and medalists at the U23 and Junior European Championships, including French and foreign national team players.

Nearly 200 swimmers are expected to compete in this meet, which will begin on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. The finals will take place on Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 12, 2026, starting at 4:00 p.m. Check out the competition schedule.

The 2026 Open des Alpes will also be broadcast live on the French Swimming Federation (FFN) website. Watch the competition live.

The competition events are open to the public free of charge in the morning.
Admission to the afternoon finals, however, requires payment. Two ticket prices are available:
  • General admission + 1 drink: €8
  • Student admission or admission for those under 18 + 1 drink: €5
Although you can pay on site, we strongly recommend that you reserve your ticket in advance on the Grenoble Alp’38 Online Ticket Office.
 
Are you a student with an FFSU membership? Come experience the event in the pools!
To help promote the “Université Grenoble Alpes,” Grenoble Alp’38 is inviting students with an FFSU membership to participate in select 25-meter events as well as relays. This is a unique opportunity to experience the event from the inside and soak up the atmosphere of a top-level meet!
