As the only French site in the European MOUNTADAPT project, Grenoble will host the Open Field Day on October 8, 2026, to explore the resilience of health systems and mountain regions in the face of climate change. Featuring thematic workshops, experience-sharing sessions, and a free community event at the Maison du Tourisme, this day will bring together experts, elected officials, and residents to discuss issues related to air quality, heat waves, and emerging diseases.
Grenoble is the only French location for the European project MOUNTADAPT (Horizon Europe program), which brings together researchers, healthcare professionals, local governments, and citizens to address a common question: How can we adapt our healthcare systems and communities to the challenges of climate change in mountainous regions?

On October 8, 2026, Grenoble Alpes Métropole, in collaboration with Université Grenoble Alpes and CHU Grenoble Alpes, and with the support of the City of Grenoble, is hosting the project's Open Field Day. On the agenda, a day rich in discussions: a presentation of the project by Prof. Jean-Luc Bosson, the ecological transition policy of CHU Grenoble Alpes presented by Anne Kittler (Deputy CEO), insights on air quality by Gaël Uzu and Clément Pesle, followed by interactive workshops around three key challenges — air quality, heatwaves, and emerging diseases.

The day will continue with a tour of the posters showcasing the solutions developed by the project teams, a FORESEE roundtable discussion on regional vulnerabilities to climate change and the example of La Bérarde, and will conclude with a group summary.

In the evening, starting at 6:30 p.m., head to the Grenoble Tourist Office for a community gathering open to everyone, moderated by Blaise Agresti, former head of the Chamonix High-Mountain Rescue Team (PGHM). Through his insights and the discussion that follows, we’ll focus on practical questions: How can our mountain regions become more resilient in the face of future climate change?
