Launch of the Jean-Pierre Raskin Senior Professor Research Chair to Accelerate the Transition to More Sustainable Electronics

To conclude the Symposium on Sustainable Electronics and Digital Technology, the University of Grenoble Alpes (UGA)—through its Labex Microelectronics program—and the CEA-Leti Carnot Institute, in partnership with the CNRS and the Nanoélec Technology Research Institute, officially launched Jean-Pierre Raskin’s Senior Professor Research Chair on December 16, 2025. This chair, focused on the theme of greener electronics, is part of the Grenoble region’s drive toward more responsible, energy-efficient, and self-sufficient microelectronics.

A professor at the Catholic University of Louvain (UCLouvain), Jean-Pierre Raskin is an internationally recognized scientist known for his major contributions to silicon-based RF technologies, semiconductor materials engineering, and eco-design of circuits. He brings to this chair leading-edge expertise focused on the eco-efficiency of electronic technologies.

This project draws on Grenoble’s ecosystem of excellence—recently designated the “European Capital of Innovation 2025”—which brings together major players in research, innovation, and industrialization in the field of semiconductors. The synergies between UGA, the CEA-Leti Carnot Institute, the CNRS, and IRT Nanoelec—surrounded by advanced technology platforms and foundational initiatives such as the Labex Microelectronics - UGA—enable the development of concrete solutions to support the evolution of technologies toward more sustainable approaches.

This chair is part of the UGA ecosystem’s microelectronics strategy and aligns with the national priorities of France 2030, in which the environmental transition is a key issue for France’s competitiveness and technological sovereignty.
