An International Gathering for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology

The Graduate School@UGA has just successfully concluded its Soft Nano thematic program’s participation in the 22nd edition of the European School on Nanosciences & Nanotechnologies (ESONN 2025). Held in Grenoble from August 24 to September 6, the event brought together about 100 students, early-career researchers, and international experts to discuss major advances in nanosciences and nanotechnologies.

Two weeks of scientific immersion in Grenoble

During this event, participants followed an intensive schedule combining lectures, specialized seminars, and hands-on workshops at Grenoble’s state-of-the-art facilities, notably the CIME cleanrooms and several laboratories on the campus. ESONN stands out for its interdisciplinary approach, with one session dedicated to quantum sciences and technologies and another focused on nanosciences applied to living systems. For students in the Soft Nano program, this immersive experience provided a unique opportunity to deepen their knowledge while discovering the connections between quantum physics, biology, and nanotechnology.

Highlights that blend science and camaraderie

Beyond the academic sessions, several highlights marked this year’s event. The “Me, My Project, My Dream” session, where each student presented their scientific ambitions, fostered discussion and mutual inspiration. It was also an important moment for the Soft Nano students, who presented their posters to a panel of judges. A day of sightseeing and a closing dinner strengthened the sense of camaraderie and allowed participants to build connections beyond the academic setting.

Soft Nano: A Program with an International Focus

For the Graduate School @UGA, and in particular for the Soft Nano program, participation in ESONN represents a key milestone. It complements theoretical coursework and research internships while strengthening the program’s international focus. Thanks to ESONN 2025, students have not only acquired new scientific skills but have also gained access to a professional and personal network that will support them as they launch their careers.
