Are you a master’s student or at an equivalent level, and interested in conducting research at a university ranked among the world’s best and earning the highest internationally recognized degree? Don’t miss this orientation and information session, which will address the main questions about the Ph.D. program and connect you with the right people to talk to. Hear from many current Ph.D. students.

Everything You Need to Know About the Doctorate

What is a Ph.D.? Why pursue a Ph.D.? How do you complete a Ph.D. in France, and at UGA in particular? How do I find a topic and funding for my dissertation? Who are the key players in the Ph.D. program (advisors, laboratory, School, and Doctoral College, etc.)? How do I complete a Ph.D. under a joint supervision arrangement with a foreign university? What training is available during the Ph.D. program? What career paths are available after completing the dissertation? What support is available for doctoral students, particularly those from outside Grenoble and international students?
Armed with this information, you can then meet with representatives from one of the 13 doctoral schools to which you wish to apply.

Available worldwide and translated into English in real time

This interactive event is 100% remote via videoconference, allowing you to participate regardless of your location or nationality (50% of our doctoral students are international), and will be conducted in French with live translation into English provided by our interpreter.

You can prepare for the event using the resources available at the bottom of the page, particularly to learn more about the disciplinary scopes of the doctoral schools before registering to meet with them.

3:30 p.m. – 4:55 p.m. Moderated roundtable discussion 
  • Overview of the doctoral program, admission requirements, and how it works;
  • Find a research topic and funding (doctoral contracts, competitive exams, scholarships, research projects, CIFRE, etc.);
  • Complete a thesis under joint supervision or spend time studying abroad;
  • Support for doctoral students, particularly international students.
