Finding childcare for a young child is a major challenge for many families: for student parents, it can determine whether they can continue their studies under favorable conditions; for employees, a solution close to the workplace makes it easier to balance work and family life.
As part of the UGA’s 2025–2028 Gender Equality Action Plan, the opening of the daycare center provides a concrete solution topromote equal opportunity, improve study and work conditions, better balance the various aspects of life, and better address the challenges of parenthood that can affect career paths differently—particularly between women and men.
"Baby Campus" embodies a broader vision of the university’s role: to create the conditions that enable everyone to study, work, and shape their own path while taking into account the realities of their personal and family lives.
Located at 180 Rue de la Piscine, in the heart of the university campus, the daycare center is housed in the former premises of the university health center, which have been completely renovated and adapted to care for young children.
This renovation was funded by theUniversité Grenoble Alpes, the Caisse d’allocations familiales, and the Crous Grenoble Alpes.
For this first school year, it offers30 spots, with capacity set to increase to45 spots in September 2027, thento 55 in January 2028.
More than70 familiesare already benefiting from this program, including8 families of UGA students.
The daycare center welcomes the children of UGA staff and students, as well as those of residents from surrounding communities, thereby helping to expand early childhood care options in the region.
Its management is entrusted toLéo Lagrange Petite Enfance, a specialist in early childhood care and community education, with support from theFamily Allowance Fund (Caisse d’allocations familiales) and theCrous Grenoble Alpes.
